"Karelian" comes from the novel The Black Chalice by Marie Jakober, in honor of the character Karelian of Lys. I highly recommend the book to people interested in paganism, Arthurian mythology, medieval Europe, the Church's treatment of suspected witches, Holy Blood, Holy Grail/The Da Vinci Code and unconventional knights. Why that character's name on this journal? Because Sean Bean played him in my head when I read the book, with Orlando Bloom as Paul and Liv Tyler as Raven.

My subheader, "Books Are Created From Holy Letters, Just As Angels Are," is a line from The Last Kabbalist of Lisbon by Richard Zimler. I also highly recommend his The Angelic Darkness.
